ISSFN Message

Dear Members,

Greetings on behalf of the Indian Society for Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery.

“We express our gratitude for the opportunity to serve this Society. The ISSFN, founded with the aim of disseminating knowledge and popularising stereotactic and functional neurosurgery, has a long and glorious past. It is heartening to see the surge in interest in this field over the past decade. We have had regular meetings, with an Annual Meeting alternating with an Annual CME. We are proud to have crossed 130 members of this focused and niche area of work within clinical Neurosurgery. We had a wonderful Annual Meeting in Bengaluru last year, and this year in August we look forward to the CME at AIIMS Jodhpur.

Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery is having a resurgence with burgeoning interest and publications in the entire subset of fields it encompasses, fuelled by newer technologies, interfaces and newer disease entities that may be impacted. Neuromodulation, for example, is breaking new ground every year. This is therefore an Era where no neurosurgeon can afford to ignore being aware of this scientific discipline.

We encourage all neurosurgeons to become members, and also to visit our revamped website which has all relevant links and resources.
